D'oh!

Posted by Syarif | Posted in | Posted on Sunday, April 04, 2010

In my last entry I talked about how I wish that the Friday would be a good day that would settle all my problems, make me smile, etc.

Well, I found out later that the Friday is literally a 'Good Friday' as in the Christian celebration day. So, in a way my wish came true as it was a 'Good Friday'. D'oh!

But, what I was truly wishing for didn't come true. Perhaps I need to make a new (more specific one). Here goes...

Please I wish that by Easter- before the day ends I would have all the funds that I need to settle all my debts, all the answers that I need to solve all my questions, and the emotions that I need to make everyone feel happy and comfortable with me.

I'm not asking for much, but, seriously if for some celestial or divine reasons that the wish(es) can't be granted, I'd rather re-live Easter 2010 over and over again. I just don't want Monday to come...

Please...

Look into the mirror- I am there inside

Posted by Syarif | Posted in | Posted on Thursday, April 01, 2010

The subject of this entry was inspired by the song Angel of Music from the Phantom of the Opera.

Nice song it was. The Phantom - acted as an Angel of Music for Christine - reveals himself grandly by appearing in a mirror - whilst all this while he was only talking to her "from far".

But apart from that, the Phantom wanted to tell Christine something: that you can see everything about you through a mirror- and him being in there tells that the Phantom is 'in' Christine.

Cuing from that, I've been trying to see the guy in the mirror. More like trying to search actually. But, the more I look, the more I'm finding a stranger. It's hard to explain, and, maybe; just maybe, that I may am just being paranoid.

But seriously, I don't know who am I looking at anymore.

Despite his good looks, and marvellous hair (wink), the dude in the mirror is a stranger. Yes, there's warmth and slight tingle each time I look at him, but, he is still a complete stranger.

Perhaps that's why it's hard for Christine to fall in love with the Phantom.

You have a perception of who you are. But when you finally see the real thing, you loathe - unwilling to except that you are indeed- unique.

Hmm... Now getting back to my wonder of who's the dude inside the mirror, should I just continue this path of life, or should I make a detour?

Or maybe; just maybe, that I need just to roll down the curtain?

Work and play

Posted by Syarif | Posted in | Posted on Saturday, March 27, 2010

As you can see in the picture, tonnes of paperwork are on my desk. A few projects and a few office admins were some of my the things I needed to tick off last week.

But hey, observe carefully, and you'll see FB's Farmville game is on my laptop screen. Yep, I play the game, but mostly either very early in the morning (before office hour) or very late in the evening (after office hour). There are times that I skip lunch and play the game.

Anyway, Farmville is not the main essence of my thought today. Noseree.

But I'm more in the mood of talking about the balance of work and play.

Up until now, I couldn't find the perfect balance. Most of the time I feel like the hours I have in a day is shortening - as I'm struggling more and more to meet deadlines. But at the same time I'm mentally challenged to make all the thinking and decisions (the cure for that is usually a good 'play' to release the steam).

What happen is now I'm tired by the end of the week and just sleep through the weekend (when I have any, of course). Yes, though I'm somewhat bright and fresh on Mondays, but it made my routine becomes a repetoire. Boring. Stagnant.

Thus I need to find that balance. I need to work with all the energy on weekdays and still conserve some for the weekends.

I guess everyone should find it.

Well, this entry doesn't make much sense, but hey, that's me! :D

Just thinking

Death? Certainly.
Near? Maybe.
Willing? Unlikely.

Why is it such a sweet sorrow?

Too wordy?

Posted by Syarif | Posted in , | Posted on Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Somebody told me that my blog is lengthy and has too much words, very less picture.

Lads, here's my explanation:

1- the reason I WRITE a blog is to express myself. Sometimes it can be in form of pictures, sometimes words and sometimes a combination of both. However most of the time it'll happen just like that and I'll just type away- along with all my arguments. As I'm using a handphone to make an entry, it's rather hard (and annoying) to look for pictures then do the copy and paste just to make the entry looks nice. I'll just leave the pictures to your imagination. That's the beauty of it- you can decide.

2- if I'm putting more pictures (or too much pictures) then it'll become a PLOG. Flickr will be much better. And it defeats the purpose of a BLOG.

3- if I were to use less character, I won't use it here. I have an account on twitter (which is a microblogging in case you still don't get what the hell twitter is for); thus whomever wants to read about me nagging, just send a request to follow me, aight? And just a wee reminder to those who use tweetlonger (or is it twitlonger?) to make a tweet more than 160 characters, you have just defeated the true purpose of twitter. Why? Just look up for the term "microblogging" on Google. You'll get it.

Thanks for reading.
Cheerio all!

Buffalo anyone?

Posted by Syarif | Posted in , | Posted on Tuesday, March 24, 2009

The first post of 09. And it's quarter of the year already.
Things have been soo packed since late last year.

Practically despite the travelling I need to embark in the next 3-4 months, I feel I could rather relax; away from the office; away from annoying phone calls; away from endless meetings. Although the e-mails and paperwork kept haunting me until this very moment of the day.

Well, 08 has been very intriguing.
Like what I have mentioned in my previous post, I hope things will turn out well.

It was here in Perlis where I sat down having a ciggie, when all these sights and sounds of the past came rushing in. With that notion, I went for some info hunt and, well, to the utter honesty, I was devastated with what that I had found.

Well, things never change I guess. When you have put you highs and lows, to work endlessly on changing a rock to a diamond, the aggravating remarks that you see (with some guys that you have put trust on fail to give you a heads up) can really spoil your mood.

Ahh... it was my fault perhaps. I should've been more careful in my choice of words, and in my choice of dissipating information. Now to kill a mockingbird seems like to shoot a snipe. The moon that I tried to nurture fell on earth.

But just like I mentioned, the serene view of the sea; with a touch of wet breeze calms me down. Surely, if I got to know about this in KL I'd be shouting and pulling long faces all day long. Thank God I found out at the comfort of Melaka Straits view.

Sigh. I still have that stupid uneasy feeling that I can't let it go.

Crap.

-=xxx=-

Last week I was in Kota Kinabalu. After the night training session, while entertaining a client of mine, a teacher (whom was on the way to go home as she lives nearby) asked me where am I going for the first week of training - and without hesitation I answered I'm going to Perlis.

Interestingly, she laughed and said "You need to get yourself some buffalos!"

"Why?" I asked

"Buffalos can bring you luck - thats what they have always say in my village"

"Why do I need the luck? And how the hell buffalos can bring me luck?"

"Well, buffalo helps alot in our daily routine - thus it is considered almost like a sacred animal. You need luck because you're not married!"

"Wtf? You mean you guys believe that un-married people are unlucky?"

"Hahahahaha!" She walked off while saying, "I'll lose my luck if I tell you now. I'll leave you with your current state of luck as it is"

That night I had a wee fight with Alice.
And I spilled Coke on my pants while sipping it.
Twice.

I tried to find the teacher the next day.
But she didn't come in.
Words from the street was her husband (whom a real-estate agent) managed to close a multi-million dollar deal and she went to help him on the paperworks.

Damn.

Perhaps it's time for me to get some buffalos?

Post script: Actually I'm not sure which one should I do. Either: 1- Stay away from Perlis, 2- Get married or 3- Get some buffalos.

Crap. Now I need to go for a joy-ride to Langkawi to calm myself down.

My.. oh my...

Posted by Syarif | Posted in , , | Posted on Friday, November 07, 2008

Yes, the last post that I have made in this bloody realm was about Vietnam.

Much had happened since then - in terms of family, friends, work, and love - the classic story of Syarif as much would say it.

Good family.
Nice friends.
Too much work (sometimes).
---- Not much to say about all of those ----

However, love in the other hand; is something not unusual, and yet, still unique. Haha, I know what you guys are thinking. The last time when I wrote about the "L" word in a blog - it was full with craps and what not. Not this time though. The confusion that the world had created made me more "cautious" on what I'm about to say (yes I DO believe that the world spins around me... hahaha!).

Neway, what I wanted to say are all in these lyrics. Just sing along while you're reading. Read thoroughly. And most importantly, the tune DOES NOT fully reflect what am I feeling. You need to read between the lines :D

Guys, no rumours please.
This is just another day where Syarif spent too much time in the office (with a working internet connection).

Lyric 1: Bole Chudiyan
Bole chudiyan, bole kangna
Haai main ho gayi teri saajna
Tere bin jiyo naiyo lag da main te margaiya

(Le jaa le jaa, dil le jaa le jaa
Le jaa le jaa, soniye le jaa le jaa) - 2

(Bole chudiyan, bole kangna
Haai main ho gayi teri saajna) - 2
Tere bin jiyo naiyo lag da main te margaiya
Le jaa le jaa, soniye le jaa le jaa
Dil le jaa le jaa, ho

Bole chudiyan, bole kangna
Haai main ho gaya tera saajna
Tere bin jiyo naiyo lag da main te marjaawa
Le jaa le jaa, soniye le jaa le jaa
Dil le jaa le jaa, ho

Haai haai main marjaawa marjaawa tere bin
Ab to meri raatein kat ti taare gin gin
Bas tujhko pukaara kare, meri bindiya ishaara kare

Hoye, lashkaara lashkaara teri bindiya ka lashkaara
Aise chamke jaise chamke chaand ke paas sitaara

Oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Meri paayal bulaaye tujhe, jo roothe manaaye tujhe
O sajan ji, haan sajan ji
Kuch socho, kuch samjho meri baat ko

Bole chudiyan, bole kangna
Haai main ho gaya tera saajna
Tere bin jiyo naiyo lag da main te marjaawa
Le jaa le jaa, soniye le jaa le jaa
Dil le jaa le jaa, ho

Apni maang suhaagan ho, sang hameshaa saajan ho
Aake meri duniya mein vaapas na jaana
Sehra baandhke maahi tu mere ghar aana

Oye soni kitti soni aaj tu lagdi ve
Bas mere saath yeh jodi teri sajdi ve
Roop aisa suhaana tera, chaand bhi hai deewana tera

Jaa re jaa oh jhoothe teri galla hum na maane
Kyoon taarife karta hai tu humko sab kuch jaane

Ho, oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh, ho oh oh oh oh
Mere dil ki duaa yeh kahe, teri jodi salaamat rahe

O sajan ji, haan sajan ji
Yunhi beete saara jeevan saath mein

Bole chudiyan, bole kangna
Haai main ho gaya tera saajna

Tere bin jiyo naiyo lag da main te margaiya
Le jaa le jaa, soniye le jaa le jaa
Dil le jaa le jaa, ho

Le jaa le jaa, soniye le jaa le jaa
Dil le jaa le jaa, ho

Aaja heeriye

Oh, jaa jaa ranjhna

Oh, aaja heeriye

Jaa jaa ranjhna

(Le jaa le jaa, dil le jaa le jaa
Le jaa le jaa, soniye le jaa le jaa) - 2

Aa aa aa aa aa aa, kabhi khushi kabhi gham
Na judaa honge hum, kabhi khushi kabhi gham

Lyric 2: Hot
You're so good to me Baby Baby
I want to lock you up in my closet, where no one's around
I want to put your hand in my pocket, because you're allowed
I want to drive you into the corner, and kiss you without a sound
I want to stay this way forever, I'll say it loud

Now you're in and you can't get out

You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You're so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You're so fabulous

You're so good to me Baby Baby
You're so good to me Baby Baby

I can make you feel all better, just take it in
And I can show you all the places, you've never been
And I can make you say everything, that you never said
And I will let you do anything, again and again

Now you're in and you can't get out

You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You're so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You're so fabulous

You're so good to me Baby Baby
You're so good to me Baby Baby

Kiss me gently
Always I know
Hold me love me
Don't ever go

You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You're so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You're so fabulous
You're so good to me
You make me so hot
Make me wanna drop
You're so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You're so fabulous

You're so good to me Baby Baby
You're so good to me Baby Baby
You're so good

Lyric 3: Diari Seorang Lelaki
Dari semalam ku tunggu
Fikir kau pulang ke pangkuanku
Ku dengarkan lagu cinta
Pilihan terbaik kita
Ku mainkan CD berulang
Lupakan segala ucapan
Perpisahan yang kau pinta

Benar dikau ku cinta setiap detik ku puja
Kau sering perhatiku sambil belai rambutmu
Tak ingin aku lupa kenangan yang tercipta
Belikan aku diari ku tulis setiap hari

Terjaga dari tidurku terima panggilan dari jauh
Katakan saja kau rindu setahun ku hilang arah
Ku tempahkan tiket sehala malam ini kitakan bertemu
Tunggu di bawah lampu

Benar dikau ku cinta setiap detik ku puja
Kau sering perhatiku sambil belai rambutmu
Tak ingin aku lupa kenangan yang tercipta
Belikan aku diari ku tulis setiap hari

Bercinta, berkasih bagai Adam dan Hawa
Bergaduh, selisih buat kita sempurna
Janganlah dipendam luahkan perasaan
Tiada benci, iri hati itulah destinasi

Benar dikau ku cinta setiap detik ku puja
Kau sering perhatiku sambil belai rambutmu
Tak ingin aku lupa kenangan yang tercipta
Belikan aku diari ku tulis setiap hari

Yep, thats it boys and girls!
Hope you had a few good tunes coming out just now!

The World is Just Awesome

Posted by Syarif | Posted in | Posted on Tuesday, September 02, 2008

I just got back from a few days of travelling, and to my excitement, this particular song from Discovery Channel talking about how awesome our world is; kept playing in my head, and for that 5 nights out there, I kept humming this song...

The World is Awesome
(watch Discovery Channel for the tunes)

I love the mountains
I love the clear blue skies
I love big bridges
I love when great whites fly
I love the whole world
And all its sights and sounds
Boom de yada, boom de yada
Boom de yada, boom de yada

I love the oceans
I love real dirty things
I love to go fast
I love Egyptian kings
I love the whole world
And all its craziness
Boom de yada, boom de yada
Boom de yada, boom de yada

I love tornados
I love arachnids
I love hot magma
I love the giant squids
I love the whole world
It’s such a brilliant place…
Boom de yada, boom de yada
Boom de yada, boom de yada

Your Life Through Music - Randomly (Part 2)

Posted by Syarif | Posted in | Posted on Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Alright, I've done this before (refer to the post on 25th July 08 below), but the musics that I used before were totally random, and not necessary my favourites. Now, I'm re-playing this stupid game using the playlist that listen to almost everyday; to see whether my "movie" would have a better storyline or not.

The same simple rule: Use you music players, put it on random and put whatever music that is playing on the slots.

The slots are basically a movie of yourself – from the opening credit – to birth – to your funeral and the closing credit.

Im using my WM Player, with about 2 and a half hours of songs listed. So, let’s see (again!) how are the music for my life will be!

Opening Credits: Memikat Hati (Baju Kancing Suasa) by R. Azmi
[Oh crap! I have a sense that this indicates that my life is actually a comedy]

Birth: Sekai Ni Hitotsu Dake No Hana (The Most Beautiful Flower in The World) by SMAP
[Hmmm... Not bad at all. Everyone is unique what the song says... I like!]

First Day At School: Complicated by Avril Lavigne
[A complicated school life... Well, thats what school is all about, right?]

Falling In Love: Zephyr Song by Red Hot Chilli Peppers
[Yeah! Hoho! Just FYI, this is the song that I was humming when I first met Alice. Nice!]

Fight Song: Sempurna by Gita Gutawa
[Oh WTF?!! Although in godfatherly movies, slow songs are used to potrait a fight scene, but not this kind of sappy song! Curse you WM Player!]

Breaking Up: Volare (Fly) by Gypsy Kings
[I guess when you break up, you do want to fly away... And singing while being painted blue? Oh what dream! Note: thats what the song is all about - minus the break up part]

Prom: Hips Don't Lie by Shakira
[Hell yeah! Dance it away girl! Although I don't really dig dancing - even during proms :p ]

Life: Pop! Goes My Heart by Hugh Grant
[I like this song - but seriously, this is another indication that my life is a comedy. Although sounds like a romantic comedy, but a comedy nonetheless! Damn! I want my life to be more like action-adventure.]

Mental Breakdown: Sayang Kinabalu by Kimin Mudin
[Astaga! Ontok di hari tiga, tomu lod Tamparuli, mingusuk po hilod kadai, mogihum dot kasut tinggi - aku mereng... *pengsan*]

Driving: DJ Yang Ku Puja by Che'Nelle feat. Burn
[Oh gosh... a mixed feeling. A love-hate selection...]

Flashback: I'm Gonna Getcha (Good!) by Shania Twain
[Huiyyo... Thats one nasty flashback (again!)]

Wedding: Take Me to Your Heart by Michael Learns to Rock
[Oh... so sweet... Michael... seriously dude, learn rock and not ballad! Although the song is serene, but thats not what I imagine my wedding would be... aiyyy...)

Birth of a Child: Superman by Five For Fighting
[Although the lyrics won't match, but the spirit of wanted to try is there. Yeah, maybe this song would do]

Final Battle: Lagu Untukmu by Meet Uncle Hussain
[Aaaaa? What the hell is this? Can someone tell me what am I fighting again?]

Death Scene: La Camisa Negra (Black Shirt) by Juanes
[..... one phrase: WTF?!!]

Funeral: Time of Your Life by Greenday
[Yes, this is what I'm talking about. Good job WM Player]

Ending Credits: Fantastico (Fantastic) by Frank Sinatra
[Thats it, it IS a comedy]

My personal verdict of my life movie: A crappy comedy with no peaks, nods, or even common sense! I like my previous "movie" better.

Now... I REALLY need to think about my song selection~

Your Life Through Music - Randomly

Posted by Syarif | Posted in | Posted on Friday, July 25, 2008

Heres another one of those random-act-that-makes-your-live-more-cheerful kinda game.

Simple rule: Use you music players, put it on random and put whatever music that is playing on the slots.

The slots are basically a movie of yourself – from the opening credit – to birth – to your funeral and the closing credit.

Im using my WM Player, with about 7 hours of songs listed. So, let’s see how are the music for my life will be!

Opening Credits: L’Amour by Carla Bruni
[Nice song - peaceful and serene - something like a Mafia Godfather opening]

Birth: Guli Noh Sunduan by Lydia Kalidin
[Uh-oh not good, a sad sappy Sabahan song on by birth]

First Day At School: Can’t Fight the Monlight by Leann Rimes
[Hohoho! Nice one WM Player!]

Falling In Love: Muli Kampung by Linda Nanuwil
[Haik? Another Sabahan number? Okla kot... It does talk a bit about love]

Fight Song: These Boots Are Made for Walking by Jessica Simpson
[Hehehe! Try imagining myself wearing boots walking all over you - wahahaha!]

Breaking Up: Complicated by Avril Lavigne
[Sometimes I do make things complicated...]

Prom: A Puro Dulor by Son by Four
[Oi! My prom should be good la! Why this lagu kena tinggal awek plak? Adoi...]

Life: Hentikan (Dikir Barat Version) by Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya Malaysia
[DAMN! I regret copying this song into my laptop. Now my life will be all about road safety]

Mental Breakdown: Windu Defrina by White Shoes and The Couple Company
[Hahahaha! I'm turning retro when I go mental?]

Driving: Superman by Five for Fighting
[Note: I DON'T cry while I'm driving]

Flashback: Erase-Replace by Foo Fighters
[Huiyyo... Thats one nasty flashback]

Wedding: Waltzing Matilda by Rolf Harris
[Perhaps I'm having my wedding reception in Melbourne? OZ, OZ, OZ! - Oi, Oi, Oi!]

Birth of a Child: Different Sound by Malte
[A semi techno number - janganla anak aku jadi jinjang]

Final Battle: Mahakarya Cinta by Faizal Tahir
[Hoh! I like! Just like a Godfather movie]

Death Scene: Cuai by Butterfingers
[Yes! Yes! more Godfatherly numbers]

Funeral: Berdiri by Suki
[WTF?!! The world is rejoicing my death?]

Ending Credits: Rap Orang Kita by Abu Bakar Ellah
[OMG! *fainted*]

My personal verdict of my life movie: It started well with a Godfather kinda theme (I've always wanted to be one) got a bit shaky in the middle - and totally sucked at the end.

Gosh... I need to think about my song selection~

The TAG Game

Posted by Syarif | Posted in | Posted on Friday, July 25, 2008

Actually I have dedicated this blog as a PLOG (picture-blog), but recently however I went through Tatty's blog (http://aku-noi.blogspot.com/) and tempted to play the Tag game.

The rule is simple: use your name with a phrase under a double quotation mark (" ") and use a search engine to look up the phrase. I'm using Google (personally; the most powerful search engine on the net) and writing down the first sensible result.

I'm using my common name, Syarif. So... here goes!

Q: "Syarif needs"
A: No results found

Q: "Syarif looks like"
A: No results found

Q: "Syarif says"
A: syarif says so now we all know who's a likely candidate who most likely pa chu ching inside his toilet.. cool.
[what the hell is pa chu ching?]

Q: "Syarif wants"
A: But then after dat, me & syarif wants to stay overnyte at shirin house.. Shab,Budi & Lily come along... All of us slept ard 6 plus...
[shirin... hmmm...]

Q: "Syarif does"
A: Syarif does not talk about his. The old net isn’t much. It’s not very long, nor very wide. It catches small fish which come close to the beach.
[Ohh... poor fisherman...]

Q: "Syarif hates"
A: u have the same birthday as syarif. hates you! hahhaa. enjoy today ! :D ily! we've been through alot . but air dicencang tiada putus kan! :D
[It's not really sensible, the way I see it, this person likes a guy named Syarif, but his/her good friend got the same birthdate with Syarif and he/she is jealous. Wah... dramatic!]

Q: "Syarif asks"
A: Syarif asks for permanent contact person at Indonesian embassy in the Hague for our programme.
[The Hague? Oh... How I wish to go there for work]

Q: "Syarif likes"
A: No results found

Q: "Syarif eats"
A: No results found

Q: "Syarif wears"
A: No results found

Q: "Syarif was arrested for"

A:No results found
[Oh thank God]

Well, it has been fun. But apparently my name is not the famous one on the net - which is quite a relief actually. Hehe!

Neway folks, thanks for dropping by!

Waste of money, literally...
